Hazard analysis

According to the Finnish Act on Pressure Equipment, hazard analysis must be done on all boiler plants that have a registered steam boiler capacity exceeding 6MW, or a water boiler capacity exceeding 15MW. Risk assessment must also be done on all boilers that will be located underground.

The purpose of hazard analysis is to map out any situations and conditions that may potentially result in an accident. Among other things, the analysis describes any typical and the most probable hazardous situations plus their underlying causes, such as operating errors, malfunctions and damage. Hazard analysis also includes clarifying how to prevent the risks from becoming reality and how to minimise the effects of potential accidents.
